Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Alexandria Team Behind Level Two Chimney Alexandria
When you book a chimney cleaning in Alexandria, you’ll get a real person at your door, not a rotating cast of subcontractors. Our crew has worked together for years, mostly across Old Town, Del Ray, and the King Street corridor. They know the difference between a prewar flue and a 1980s conversion, and they’ll tell you plainly what’s happening up there. Corrine Halstead has owned this location since day one, and she hires people who share the same habit: write it down, photograph it, and stand behind it. That’s the whole job.
Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician
Marcus has been running inspections and sweeps in Alexandria for eleven years. He holds a CSIA certification and handles most of our Level 2 camera work, which means he’s the one threading a scope up flues in 1930s bungalows and finding what everyone else missed. His specialty is diagnosing draft problems in older smoke chambers: if a fireplace in Rosemont suddenly starts puffing smoke back into the living room, Marcus is usually the one who finds the offset flue or a rotted damper ledge behind it. He keeps a small notebook in his van with hand-drawn diagrams of every unusual flue he’s documented. His wife says he draws chimneys in his sleep.
Elena R. – Senior Installer
Elena leads our liner and rebuild work, and she’s the person you want measuring if you need a full replacement in a Fairlington townhouse with no easy roof access. She’s trained on DuraFlex and HeatShield systems and has done over 200 liner installs in Northern Virginia alone. Her eye for crown work is what sets her apart: she’ll spot hairline spalling on a crown from the ground before the ladder even goes up, then confirm it with photos so you can see exactly what she’s talking about. Elena grew up in Arlington and still complains about parking there. She once rebuilt a cricket on a steep-pitched roof in a single afternoon and then stayed to sweep the gutters because, in her words, “it was bugging me.”
Dana W. – Service Coordinator
Dana is the voice on the phone at 7 a.m. and the person who texts you when your technician is on the way. She’s from Alexandria and has been with Level Two since 2016. Her job is scheduling, but practically she’s the one who makes sure every appointment gets a written price before anyone shows up, per Haven Standard Clause 1. If you call with a question about a competitor’s quote, Dana walks you through our Free Second Opinion process without making you feel foolish for asking. She keeps a binder of every job record going back years, organized by neighborhood, and she can usually tell you about your own chimney’s history before the tech has even pulled up. She also bakes a very serious banana bread and refuses to share the recipe.
Jeremy C. – Apprentice
Jeremy is our newest crew member, two years in, and he’s already logged over 600 supervised sweeps. He’s working toward his CSIA certification and spends most days alongside Marcus learning camera inspection technique. What Jeremy lacks in years he makes up for in thoroughness: he’s the one double-checking that every flue tile is captured in the photo record before the tools get packed up. He grew up in Richmond and moved to Alexandria for the job, and he still talks about the first time he pulled a Class III creosote sample and learned what “glazed” actually means. His current project is memorizing the NFPA 211 inspection checklist by section number, which he recites under his breath on the drive to every job.
One Standard, Every Job

The team in Alexandria doesn’t work off personal habits or mood. Every sweep, inspection, and repair follows the same Haven Standard our customers see on paper. That means a written price before anything starts, a camera-scan inspection whenever a chimney’s condition is in question, and a documented photo record on completion under Clause 4, so you have proof of what was found and what was done. If something isn’t right, the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies, and one of the people above comes back to fix it. No call-center runaround. No “the tech’s judgment call.” Corrine Halstead hires people who treat documentation as part of the service, not an add-on. That consistency is why our crew has swept and inspected over 38,000 chimneys since 2009 and why Alexandria homeowners keep our number in their phones.
