Which Gelco Models This Applies To

If your cap has a Gelco label, flip it over or look at the base. You’ll see a model stamp on the underside of the hood or the inside of the mounting ring: GC-6 through GC-13 for round flues, GCSQ for square. If the stamp is gone, measure the outside diameter of your flue tile. A 6″ flue takes a GC-6, a 7″ takes a GC-7, and so on. That measurement matters more than the brand name. A Gelco GC-8 and a Copperfield 8″ cap are functionally interchangeable if the base style matches, but the Gelco stainless steel is a step up from anything galvanized or painted aluminum. Don’t pay for a “Gelco-specific” install fee. If a company quotes one, get a second opinion.

Those checks are safe. We encourage them.

What we don’t recommend is pulling the old cap off yourself, especially on a two-story Alexandria roof.
