DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Nationwide

Every visit starts with

Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed

Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild in Alexandria: What to Know First

We provide independent DuraFlex chimney liner inspection, repair, and full rebuilds in Alexandria, Virginia. Most DuraFlex liner jobs we quote run between $2,400 and $6,800 depending on flue height, liner diameter, and whether the crown or chase top needs work at the same time. We work as an independent DuraFlex service provider, not a factory warranty station, which means we tell you what the camera shows and write the price down before anything gets ordered.

This page is for Alexandria homeowners who already have a DuraFlex liner, or who’ve been told they need one. If you’re seeing rust streaks on the chase, hearing flue tile fall when the wind picks up, or your sweep flagged a warped liner section, call (240) 290-6726. Corrine Halstead and her crew have worked on DuraFlex systems in Old Town, Del Ray, and the colonials off Seminary Road for years.

How DuraFlex Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

DuraFlex makes good stainless liners, but no liner brand is immune to how it gets installed and what gets burned. Here’s what we actually find on DuraFlex jobs in Alexandria.

  • DuraFlex 316L warping at the first flue offset. The 316L alloy is solid for wood and gas, but when a liner gets pulled through a 1940s flue with a hard offset, the corrugation can flatten at the bend. The liner looks fine from the top. From the bottom, the camera shows a reduced cross section. We fix this by cutting out the collapsed section and re-securing with a proper rigid-to-flex connector, not by sleeving over it.
  • Pinhole rust-through on DuraFlex Smooth Wall sections. Smooth Wall is easier to sweep, but it’s thinner at the seam where the strip welds. On exterior masonry chimneys in Alexandria, the condensation cycle from humid summers to cold January nights attacks that seam first. You’ll see rust weeping through the brick face near the smoke chamber. We replace the failed section and re-insulate if the original warranty conditions called for it.
  • Improper termination causing rain and vermin entry. We’ve pulled three raccoons out of DuraFlex liner tops in Rosemont over the past two years. Some installers skip the proper cap and screen, or they use a universal cap that doesn’t seat on the DuraFlex collar. Water runs down the outside of the liner, sits in the smoke chamber, and eventually the liner rusts from the outside in. Our fix is the correct DuraFlex or compatible cap, seated and banded.
  • Delaminated DuraFlex Insulation Mix. The factory insulation wrap breaks down when it gets wet repeatedly. The liner still passes a visual, but the camera shows the wrap slumping and exposing bare liner. That bare spot is where creosote condenses fastest. We strip the failed insulation, treat the liner exterior, and re-wrap with a fresh insulation system before re-installing.
  • OEM part mismatches from previous patches. Not every “DuraFlex repair” we see in Alexandria actually used DuraFlex connectors. A universal coupler on a DuraFlex liner creates a ledge where creosote piles up. That becomes a Class III creosote risk. We remove the mismatch, fit the correct DuraFlex or spec-matched coupler, and document the repair with camera shots before and after.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process

Our DuraFlex Chimney Liner & Rebuild Process
  1. 1
Camera first, talk second. We run the camera down the full flue before we discuss anything. You see the screen while we’re looking. No flashlight peek and a sales pitch. The camera doesn’t have an opinion. It just shows you what’s there.
  2. 2
Written diagnosis with measurements. We note the liner diameter, alloy marking if visible, section condition, offset angles, and crown state. You get a written description, not a verbal summary you have to trust.
  3. 3
Parts decision on paper. We spec DuraFlex parts where warranty-safe and available. For discontinued series, we spec a quality-matched aftermarket and tell you why. Nothing gets ordered until you’ve seen the line items.
  4. 4
The work itself. Liner pull, flue prep, any crown or chase repair, then install. We follow the manufacturer’s installation spec, not shortcut it.
  5. 5
Post-install camera verification. We run the camera again top to bottom before we call it done. You get before-and-after photos in the file.
  6. 6
Written warranty and 365-Day Done Right Promise. The scope, the price, the warranty, and the photo record all go in writing. If it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s been our practice since 2009 and it’s Clause 4 of the Haven Standard.

Why Alexandria Homeowners Call Level Two Chimney Alexandria for DuraFlex Work

Since 2009, we’ve inspected and cleaned more than 38,000 chimneys, and every single one got a written price before work started and a documented photo record when it was done. That’s not a policy we added last year. It’s been the standard since day one, and it’s why our Name is the inspection standard we work to: NFPA 211 Level 2, camera down the flue.

Our techs are background-checked and uniformed. The license number is on every page. When your tech is on the way, you get a text with the name. If you call, a live person answers, 24/7. And if you’re holding a written estimate from another Alexandria company, bring it to us. We’ll give you a free second opinion on it, because when you’re looking at $4,000 of liner work, you deserve to see what you’re paying for in writing.

We also service HeatShield and Gelco systems, so if the camera shows a different liner than what the last contractor told you, we’re not stuck trying to sell you one brand. We tell you what’s actually in there.
